An 8-day golf tour incorporating golf and game-viewing in Africa’s bushveld.
This 8-day golf tour gives you the opportunity to view Africa’s game whilst playing golf on some of the country’s most challenging and interesting courses. So long as you are prepared to share your greens with the occasional giraffe, we think this golf tour is a must if you wish to partake in a true African golf safari. When you’re not on the course, you can look forward to exploring the bush and embarking on exciting game drives.
Day 1: Thornybush Game Reserve
Today you'll transfer to Hoedspruit from Johannesburg, Cape Town or Sun City, depending on your starting point. From Hoedspruit you are transported to Thornybush Safari Lodge (40 minutes), which borders the Kruger National Park. Alternatively it's a 5-hour drive from Johannesburg International Airport.

Day 2: Thornybush Game Reserve
Spend the whole day at Thorny Bush Safari Lodge. Enjoy a game drive in an open vehicle, with a good chance of spotting the big 5 as well as numerous other species. The lodge's spacious, thatched lounge, bar, and dining area offer you an old-world haven in the midst of the African bush, while the shaded swimming pool and sundeck overlook a busy waterhole often visited by large herds of elephant.

Day 3: Thornybush Game Reserve
Another full day at Thornybush! Besides game drives, other activities include bird watching or embarking on game walks with a trained tracker and guide. Alternatively, the day can be spent relaxing around the luxurious camp or soaking up the sun alongside the pool.

Day 4: Hans Merensky, Kruger Park
Today you’ll leave Thornybush Game reserve and on your drive you’ll pass through the historical gold rush mining town of Pilgrim’s Rest. Afterwards, it’s on to Hans Merensky Golf Course where you’ll have time to improve your handicap. Don’t be surprised if you stumble across a giraffe happily sharing the fairways with you! After the round it’s back on the road to the Sabie River Sun hotel where you’ll settle in for the night.

Day 5: Sabie River, Kruger Park
Spend the morning playing 18 holes at the Sabie River Golf Course. Water is plentiful on this course and is present in the form of a hazard on all but 4 of the 18 holes. After a challenging round, the rest of the afternoon can be spent at your leisure at the Sabi River Sun hotel. The hotel is situated on the banks of the Sabie River in the majestic Mpumalanga Lowveld and is surrounded by 200 acres of lush bushveld.

Day 6: Kruger Park
After breakfast you’ll set out for the Malelane Intercontinental Sun. Your drive will take you via Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window – both famous and dramatic natural landmarks in Mpumalanga. In the evening you can watch the sunset from Malelane’s viewing deck which overlooks the Kruger National Park.
Day 7: Leopard Creek, Kruger Park
Start your day with a round of golf at Leopard Creek Golf Club. The club, bordering the picturesque Crocodile River and Kruger Park, was specifically designed to blend with the surroundings and represents African golf at its best. The afternoon is free to relax or enjoy an optional game drive. (Game Drive not included)
