Challenging for all skill levels |
Description De Zalze Club golf course is surrounded by views of the mountain and is engulfed in vineyards, orange trees and dams. The Blaauwklippen River meandering through the course adds to the already testing water features on the course.
The first thing you’ll notice about De Zalze is that the clubhouse is situated in the wine-producing cellar of the Kleine Zalze wine farm. Golfers playing on this golf course usually take advantage of this by sinking some of South Africa’s finest wines at the 19th hole!
Playing the Course
De Zalze Golf Club is situated between Stellenbosch and Somerset West and its 18-hole, 6 385m layout was designed by leading South African golf course designer Peter Matkovich.
The second nine is particularly interesting. You can tee off from an island which will probably make this par four a signature hole. The par five with two fairways is another interesting hole set amongst the citrus trees. We thought this was an enjoyable and challenging golf course and a big must for holiday golfers of all skill levels.
