Description Since opening in 1991, Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate has established itself as one of South Africa’s premier Golfing and Leisure Resorts of championship proportions and immaculately maintained greens. Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate offers the golfing visitor three world class golf courses, the Outeniqua, the Montagu and the Links. The golf school, driving range and clubhouse facilities are of a high standard and the resident professionals are always available to fine-tune your swing.
The Fancourt Montagu is considered one of the best conditioned golf courses in South Africa and has been ranked as the top course in the country a few times. The Montagu takes in a setting of mountains, water and wildlife. It is cleverly designed, picturesque and presents a challenge to golfers of all levels.
Please note: The Montagu Golf Course will be closed for extensive upgrading from 8 March 2004 and is scheduled to reopen on 1 December 2004.
Playing the Course
These Gary Player designed courses are demanding fair tests set in beautiful surroundings. The generous kikuyu fairways and fast bent grass greens give a taste of the type of course, popular on the US tour.
The most challenging, nerve-racking and enjoyable hole is the par-three 17th. Only by clearing a large expanse of water can the green be reached - similar to the 12th at Augusta National.
Since golf at Fancourt is limited to members, their guests and hotel guests will have ample time to play at their own pace, taking in the golfing experience that is Fancourt.
