Ninth hole considered toughest par five in Cape Town area |
Description Situated in the picturesque Clovelly valley surrounded by mountains and overlooking False Bay, the Clovelly Golf Course compliments the coastal environment perfectly with its natural sand dunes and water features. The natural surrounding fauna (guinea fowl, pheasant) and indigenous fynbos flora add to the tranquillity of the entire golfing experience.
Clovelly Golf Course is in a valley and has a variety of trees scattered along the fairway. As a result, it is well protected from the south-easterly winds that threaten other Cape Town golf courses.
Playing the Course
The Clovelly Golf Course is ideal for the holiday golfer. The rolling fairways are tight but short, making them teasingly challenging while still having birdies and par opportunities. The course is well known for being in great condition year round and boasts computer controlled irrigation of the fairways and championship-quality greens.
We think the most challenging hole on the course is the par-four 4th. Accuracy off the tee is paramount to navigate the dogleg left, stream and out of bounds. This leaves the golfer with a challenging second, as the green is guarded by a water hazard and sand trap.
