General Information

Kensington Place is a sophisticated and tranquil hideaway set high on the slopes of Table Mountain in Higgovale, one of Cape Town's most prestigious residential areas.

This establishment sets the benchmark for small, intimate boutique hotels - it's sexy, minimalist and stylish. This is a destination for guests who want seclusion and privacy, whilst not compromising on luxury and service.

The interior is modern and chic, yet subtle enough not to overpower. Outside is a wooden deck surrounded by silky, muted curtains with oversized cushions scattered on wicker lounge chairs.

The deck extends around the swimming pool which is just big enough to cool off in. In the summer this area is decorated with candles, and the setting is pure African romance.

The hotel offers free internet access for guests and free entrance to the Virgin Active Gym in Green Point, as well as laptop and I-Pod docking stations in each room.

Rooms

Rooms at Kensington Place are plain yet stylish, and a variety of interiors create a unique feel for each room. Rooms are adorned with rich, decadent fabrics and artwork created by predominantly South African artists. The overall style is contemporary with an eclectic African feel.

All but one room have private terraces from which you can enjoy the view of the valley below. The rooms come with many extras such as under-floor heating, DVD players, laptop and I-Pod docking stations, and spa treatments on request.

Bathrooms are a sensuous experience, with features such as custom-made sunken baths, twin showers, and enormous bath sheets to wrap up in afterwards. A glass wall from one bathroom even overlooks a private outdoor tropical garden and fishpond.

Dining

The small dining room at Kensington Place is elegant and functional, and contains a small bar area where you can enjoy a late-night whiskey after a day's sightseeing.

As well as breakfast, a chef is on duty to prepare gourmet lunch and dinner 5 days a week. Food prepared at Kensington Place is fresh and simple with enticing flavours. These meals can also be enjoyed in the dining room or in the privacy of your suite or terrace.

There is 24-hour bar room service for those not wishing to venture as far as the dining room.
