Adjoining Giants Castle Nature Reserve and sitting alongside a mountain river brimming with trout, the Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse is a gourmet getaway in the heart of the spectacular Drakensberg mountain range.

Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse gives you endless opportunities to bird watch, hike through the Berg, swim in cold mountain rivers or enjoy a horseback ride along the mountain trails. A guided nature walk with an expert guide can also be arranged.

Relax in one of the hammocks in the garden area, or perhaps take one of the cookery classes that are offered; Cleopatra's is well-known for their excellent cuisine and award-winning chefs.

The Kamberg valley, home to the Fly-fishing Festival, is one of South Africa's top fishing regions. The Little Mooi River, brimming with brown trout, runs through the Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse property, making this country hideaway the perfect lure for professional and amateur fishing enthusiasts.

Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse has a charming and cosy atmosphere, and is the ideal base from which to explore Highmoor dam, the Kamberg Nature Reserve, and the endless scenic trails of the impressive Drakensberg mountains

Rooms

Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse has given strict attention to detail in all of the suites and cottages - with his & hers bathrooms, dressing rooms and a cosy fireplace. Solid oak tables, wicker chairs and free-standing basins all add to the country-home feel of this charming lodge.

There are 5 standard rooms near the main house and look out onto the dam, with an open-plan sitting area and en suite bathroom. The 3 luxury suites have their own glassed-in verandas with beautiful mountain and garden views.

The executive suite joins two luxury suites together and has its own private lounge with a fireplace, as well as great views of the surrounding mountains.

The two executive cottages are stand alone units with their own private veranda overlooking the nearby wetland and mountains. Spacious, open-plan and beautifully decorated, the executive cottages are great for families.

Dining

The menu is the jewel in the crown of this charming getaway. Dinner is a sumptuous 5-course meal served in an elegant dining room overlooking the dam and mountain ranges beyond.

The menu, created in consultation with international chefs, changes each evening in accordance with the season and availability of local produce.

The underground wine cellar is well stocked with South African premier wines, and you are welcome to join the chef in selecting the right wine to compliment your meal.

Breakfasts are never average, while lunch is by arrangement. A picnic basket will be packed for you on request.
