The Spier Hotel

General Information

The Spier Hotel, just outside Stellenbosch, dates back to 1692. Meticulous renovation has restored the gracious Cape Dutch buildings to their former glory, and today, the scenic surroundings set the stage for a celebration of the finer things in life.

The clay-coloured, Cape-style buildings are clustered around courtyards, gardens and swimming pools. The Spier Hotel makes extensive use of locally-made art which can be seen in both the rooms and communal living areas.

The landscaped grounds allow a host of recreational activities for its guests, such as horse-riding through the vineyards, tennis, swimming, playing a round on the scenic golf course, or even visiting the on-site cheetah park.

The Spier estate is also a cultural epicentre with amphitheatre for various productions during the summer, four restaurants, and a variety of massage and holistic treatments.

Accommodation at The Spier Hotel consist of rooms, suites and villas all set in a peaceful village atmosphere. Local artists were approached to decorate the rooms, meaning each room is a unique masterpiece in its own way.

There are various dining options on the Spier estate where you can eat in beautiful surroundings.

Moyo is by far the most spectacular. An outdoor dining experience, that captures the essence of African culture, in a tree-lined garden, filled with Bedouin tents, gazebos and tree houses. Live performers will entertain you with indigenous theatre, dance, opera, and traditional storytelling from noon until late. [p]Jonkershuis serves a Cape-style buffet for lunch and dinner in the tranquil gardens adjacent to the Eerste River. You can also visit the Spier Deli & Grill for a picnic to be enjoyed on the lawn next to the lake.
