General Information

From the moment you arrive at Zimbali Lodge, you are treated like royalty. Your arrival will be announced from the main entrance to the estate, where staff are on hand offering a refreshing cocktail. Luggage is transferred to the rooms on a golf cart while the valet parks your vehicle.

Hand-moulded washbasins with pewter fittings hint at a long-gone era of self-indulgence, while oil lamps glow softly in the dark to enhance the sophisticated, all-African ambience. From the inviting overstuffed cushions on the terrace daybeds, to the huge leather upholstered armchairs in the elegantly outfitted bar, no effort is spared to provide the ultimate in comfort and gracious living.

Rooms

Décor at Zimbali Lodge is ornate; hand-carved mahogany beds and ceilings clad in sisal matting are reminiscent of the homes of sugar magnates from years gone by. The bedside lamps unique in each suite, and air vents are carved scenes rich in African detail.

Every luxurious bedroom at Zimbali Lodge opens onto a private, furnished balcony offering sweeping views down the valley to the sea.

Even the bathrooms embody an old world indulgence and are stylishly old fashioned, with hand-moulded washbasins, freestanding Victorian baths and fashioned fittings such as hand-forged iron chandeliers. An exquisite tapestry of forest foliage drapes the wall, complimenting the lodge's natural surroundings.

Dining

The dining room has the atmosphere of an old colonial dining hall, with ferns suspended from the ceiling, a mixture of rattan and other dining chairs; lanterns and amber-beaded table candles. The menu changes daily to enable the chef to select the freshest available produce and prepare the most delicious, gourmet cuisine.

Revel in the table d'hôte spread at Zimbali Lodge's colonial-style restaurant, or relax on the terrace where every dish is complemented by the vista. You can enjoy high tea in the Zimbali Lounge, served by butlers; the elevated bar, overlooking the 14th fairway, is ideal for sundowners and light meals in the sub-tropical air.
